I think, as long as the ferret is healthy, and working well it doesnt matter. I have an old friend who is in his 70s and has always fed slops. His ferrets are very healthy, and work amazingly. Although people say that feeding slops will cause dihorrea it is not always the case as these shits are fine. I feed mainly rabbit and mine havent had dry food since the summer, but now they will be on dry cat food in summer as the jameswellbeloved is far to expensive...

Will cheapcat biscuits contain no meat products in then what so ever , its vegetable protein, it may say its 40% protein but its where that protein origonates from that matters, ferret = carnivore = meat

If people are feeling the pinch move some ferrets on keep the bare min & give them the best rather than 10 + & give them a crap diet because you cant afford to feed decent food

I feed my ferret on alph ferret feast and i think its cheap at £11.00 a bag for 10kg, like Kay says you have got to feed the right stuff you would not feed your dog lettice because its cheaper then dog food would you.

I was feeding TESCOS own cat biscuits all summer No problems.IN fact you have to be carefull not to feed to mutch or they get fat quickly.

I used to feed my ferrets chudleys ferret food supplemented with the odd rabbit and pigeon but after someone mentioned on here that it messes the ferrets teeth up, I decided to do a bit more investigating. I now feed them only rabbit and pigeon with the odd pheasant and duck thrown in. My opinion is that dry food should only be used as a standby and there are alot better alternatives.

I feed my 2 current Jill's on dry cat food as something that is there all the time as it doesn't rot if they hoard it and i suppliment it with various meats each night. I will keep a good supply of James Wellbeloved around for Jill's having kits and injured ferrets brought to me as it is the best stuff for building energy and recovery. To be honest all my ferrets are fit and pure muscle and they are happy enough which is my priority and it beats the hell out of milk sops. As much as i'd love to feed all my ferrets on James Wellbeloved its just not a feasible solution right now for me at least.
