try and order it online mate. Or if you find a farmers merchant type place. They will sell 15 Kg bags of dry cat food. About a tenner a bag but lasts a long while and is basically exactly the same as ferret complete just with something like 2% less protien. And if they get the odd rabbit it should suit fine

The protein in that stuffs soya , not animal, it wont keep the ferrets urine ascidic enough possibly causing struvite sones to build up

I see what you mean sue. But alot of people I know feed this stuff, and there ferrets are just as healthy as mine. So I switched from the jameswellbeloved stuff

But they need meat protein not vegetable protein , its ok to feed most things occasionally within reason but i would not feed it as a staple day in day out, i know the prices appealing but to me if you have a supply of meat why feed a cats diet to a ferret

If price is a problem then some cat foods are alot better than others.

Ferrets need food with a minimum of 34% protein and 20% fat, with animal protein sources making up the higher percentages of protein derivatives.

Go Cat kitten food is half the price of ferret food but contains, 40% protein with chicken being the main source. Sadly it only has 12% fat, which could I suppose be made up with the fat from meat brought into the house. My ferrets seem to love it when I run out of ferret food and at least its quite close to fitting their needs, alot better than generic cat food!

A lot of people are feeding dry cat food as the price differnce between that and dry ferret grub is shocking

But if you use a good brand like arden grange ot iams its no cheaper , this 99p a box shite is just that shite, its not good for them for the reasons i explained earlier

Try telling that to kids who are counting the pennies

a tray of chicken wings from tesco isnt any more than about 1.50 if there not able to afford the propper dry food then thats another cheap way to feed
