littletimmy 71
Always a testosterone fueled thread this type but the upshot is -Break your dogs to stock or pay the price .No amount of whinging will bring them back once they are shot .Very poor to own a dog that even looks at the feckers IMO.Heard of a donkey killed recently by lurchers and a shot dog but that is another story . the topic starter told me it all happened in kettlewell. Only reason i was intrested is becuase i saw a few lads with 3 whippety dogs and a lurcher a couple of month back in threshfields .. didnt stop for a chat was busy giving yorkshire police a tour of the area .. last time i was round there, a few lannys was trying to block us in, in the sense they was trying to surround the fields we was in. Adam-RunningDog 1
i know this sounds childish but a death of my dog would really hit me and i would sent some big people over to that farmers house to sort him out Quote Link to post
reddog70 236
its easy to blame the farmer and if it was my dogs that were shot id be none to happy.. but just think how many running dogs end up dumped or left on farmland i know of 2 on the farms i go on one was tied up in a old barn and found in poor condition it survived and the farmers brother kept him was apparently a brill ferreting dog.. and a good few are shot that dont make the grade... this farmer might have had bad experiences .. i think we all need to be responsible on are permission and create a good impression Quote Link to post

Guest Bennybhoy
It's ok everyone posting that they should hit this farmer in the pocket etc, kill his sheep blah de blah..... The bottom line is, if the dogs weren't on his land they'd be alive today. I'd be as raging as the next guy if it were my dogs but then again, I wouldn't be as irresponsible as to let it happen in the first place. Everyone to a man on here has slatted the farmer and they all want his guts for garters, the guy is trying to scrape a living from sheep farming ff's.... He is only protecting his assets. It doesn't take much to make a sheep abort and all sheep are pregnant at this time of year, what is he to do? Allow this "pack" of dogs to worry his sheep? Does he wait till they kill a few before he reacts? EVERYONE of us relay on farmers to maintain the countryside we know. It's these same farmers that allow us on their land to do the sport we love. Aye, it might be big to post that you'd kill em etc, but I reckon the guy was within his right.... Before you say, what if it was your dogs... It WOULDN'T be my dogs in that situation!!! your talkin crap ,has your dogs never chased off your permission onto anothers land.aye i train my dogs damn well and its never happend to me ,but you only need to be unlucky once.so it could be your dogs in that situation. hiho 5
im sorry to hear that the farmer has shot this mans dogs , its a shame and i bet the mans gutted but if a farmer did this to me then im sorry but the farmer has a lot more to lose than me and i would be going to prison now as i would kill every 1 of his sheep now ! Spot on, what gets my back up, is all stock is bred for the dinner plate, and all means to a farmer is money. They dont think of any animal like we do, even there sheepdogs are just a tool to them, and they shoot them once they are to old to work. Go back in the night and kill as many as you can, and hit him were it hurts in is pocket. It might make him not so trigger happy next time. No one shoots there dogs we have a retired one 13 years old who just rides round in the jeep all day and picks up shot rabbits Quote Link to post
hiho 5
Has anyone else noticed that the Shooters on this forum have been civilised and looked at both sides of the story unlike the dog men who have been acting all hard saying theyl kill the farmer and shag *shoot* (spelling mistake ) all his sheep when in reality they would be piss scared Quote Link to post

ulverston moocher 60
Some farmers are just on a power trip and dont even need to see a dog worry sheep to shoot them some are just plain nob heads and I dont see poaching as a good enough reson to shoot someones dogs I saw a feller get two red setters shot because they were off there lead's the feller was crying and the farmer said they should of been under control wich they were they were just off there leads and walking aboute twenty yards from the owner it was in all the local rags about it. What a wanker. Quote Link to post
