bill88 6
Never had that problem, the sea don't freeze.... Mal i have some pics somewhere from a beach fishing trip to Withernsea on the east coast.Line was freezing to the rings and all the bait we dug and pumped that day was frozen solid.I even ended up rescuing a Guilliemot ! I sometimes think us fishermen are mental,we go fishing in the worst of weather and lets be honest a lot of us go and freeze on a bank/beach somewhere knowing we are unlikely to catch Quote Link to post

Sonny Brindle 2
Had a day's grayling fishing last week, and it was bitter. Ice forming in the rings, and fussy fish meant continual changing of size 16/18 flies with numb fingers. Had a couple of fish though, one little one and a cracking personal best of 1.5 pounds. Got this shot of the little 'un on my phone. Quote Link to post
fin and fur 2
i used to fish a small trout lake that sat in a deep secluded valley many years ago when the sun went down over the trees in winter the temperature would fall dramatically and the flyline would usually freeze to the rod rings which would make for some, how shall i say, exciting sport when a trout ran with the fly, reckon we will see a harsh winter this year, the local weatherman was talking of this being the coldest winter for the last 12 years, roll on spring Quote Link to post
T78 4
i remember when i was a kid, fishing on the ouse in winter and the river was frozen from the bank to about ten foot out! had to break a channel before fishing and it still refroze as the day went on! Quote Link to post
