doxhope 2
Had a 1600 subaru estate years ago, great tool, pity they stopped making them....Ive had 2 1800`s since, the second one permanent four wheel drive..engines hard a hammers
lucky 578
the old L-series were real good buses but they had there down falls like boiling up after very hard driving but that could be rectified by fitting twin fans, then there was the floors that would trap the rear passengers feet between the floor and the front seats everytime you hit a bad bump.... then the rotting wings, and bouncing on the lever to try and get them out of 4wd.... but they were far more good points than there was bad and at the time there was nothing to touch them, as for changeing the engine it was very rare you would need to, that is why subaru's are so popular but if you did have to they were easy to work on just like all subarus are.... i could'nt compare them to the modern subaru's like the legacy or forester as its been so long since i've drove one, but i do think Legacys were a lot harder to break and felt much more solid and powerfull but the old L-series served its purpose well as did the legacy, but as time moves on so do we and today is the day of the Forester....... Bloody Great motors the L series!

Tarmac 1
I'm really looking forward to the price falling down on the new Diesel subaru, then i'll be happy! Been thinking about purchasing a forester, but with the land been so wet most of the season now-a-days can they cope like some of the jeeps out there, and with the petrol side of things, prefer the diesel motors for obvious reasons
Edd_Wiltshire 9
I wouldnt bother with the subaru diesel, apparently well shoddy and worth staying away from. I am surprised by the latest shape, 2 litre legacy's prices, you can get a lot of car for under 4 grand, not that i have 4 grand burning a hole in my pocket.

comanche 3,038
You just cannot beat them. farm i go over has one of these its mint [ well apart from a dent he has just put in it ] Engine on this was smokin a bit at nearly 200,000 miles but twas the rust that never slept got it in the end and caused retirement to off road use only . Think the US version was marketed as the Subaru Rabbit . Very apt . Subaru_pick_up.bmp
