wild rover 548
leeview ill get some pics up like some of them do with large amounts you can count them ahah 68 47 is my bet two nites ,and if i had willing helpers with dogs in between 100 plus easy with two dogs, never one ive ran dogs out and over ran them ,before never do it again hopefully , whats your record for game and no lies , i get bored now after 20 odds unles there a laugh and a crack , ive got pups who can catch a rabit at seven months, rabbits have never done it for me 15 or more years but i still like a day bolting them great fun i lke hard rabbits were the dog has to try abit , not like lauder in the eighties early ninties i think you missing the piont here mate rabbs was neve rto me about numbers just pestcontrol , and ,if you live in the places were there plenty it doesnt get you exuited as much ,i get more fun seeing other people enjoythere time out etc Sorry mate but the thread was about years ago as you admit taking large bags as did the lads who hit 100, years ago, they were there, the farmer wanted shot of them, there was a market at £1 a piece, it paid for fuel and our equipment. You are fortunate to live in an area that we had to travel to, to work our dogs,I have and never will take 100 single handed and currently have no desire to, if there was that many about. I am now more than happy to mooch and ferret enjoying a well trained intelligent worker do the work. You seem to be trying to make a point of nothing, going round in circles. Quote Link to post
whin 463
i thought they ment now as , realy there were places moving with them at times , i just dont get people who get exited ove lots of rabbits and my dog took 20 my dog took 30 etc once you have caut lots of game sold lots of game its honestly no big deal but let people who like that thing go on , never gave it a thought nowadays to count game unless you get paid or something just a day out and abit of fun rabbiting mate , see things diffrently at times , when you livein it and at it ,all season weather permitiin , its like guys i have took out localy they are out in afull moon chasein roe there to wide to get caut then, when the nites are good you go out and hammer them , same with hares people think they stay in the open ,were most of the time in some areas they are wooded until end of jan feb and only come out on the nite or a warm winters day ,rover just cant suffer some going on biggest hares most rabbits , i always mind the best chases hardest chases ,as biggest nites are not always the best sport Quote Link to post

higgins 75
Does anyone remember Thomas Mcphee in Caithness Scotland and the articles of his lamping exploits in SHOOTING NEWS,he used to regularly catch 'large' numbers with a whippet or whippetx lurcher i think she was named Ruby?I can't remember the exact figures, but it certainly sparked a 'Klondyke' pilgrimage to his region because of the sheer numbers of rabbits that abounded,i believe Plummer moved up there for that reason plus it was isolated! littletimmy 71
i'd be happy catching half that with multiple dogs! Still not past 14 with my bitch .. next season i'll have to have a full night somewhere full( i said this several times last year) Always found the temptation of other quarry to hard to resist though after double figures Quote Link to post
