Shooting sports. Its more down to earth.

Sporting gun and sporting shooter think that everyone owns purdys and shoots high partridges and drives round in brand new range rovers  Too much shotguns and not enough rifle articles if you ask me.

Get the old airgun mags now n then too !!!

Sometimes when im brave il grab another of my favourite mags of the top shelf ;)

If you want more rifle articles, have you tried "Sporting Rifle"? Plenty in there.

I used to buy Airgunner & airgun World but it was just completely full of adverts they are expensive for what they are they are a complete rip off you'd find out more by coming onto descent forums like this than having the same old rubbish repeated month after month in them!

Well said, that man!!

Used to get Air gunner, but was banned for LIFE for mentioning THL on BBS so bollox to em never got it again , and never will :D

quite right Buster, quite right!!

I must say, i used to buy them quite regularly, but now don't bother on the whole - as has been said by others theyDO tend to get a bit "the same as last moth" really. So now i don't bother (unless i see something that is of interest to me - and you can count those times using 2 fingers . . . . on one hand . . . . on 2 seperate occasions, like?!)

Regards,

Grim.

The best way to beat paying for airgun magazines is to write your own stories and PM them to me! :D

What we can do then is lock them in another forum and it could be a huge resource of hunting stories. We have an FAQ's forum and rifle review forum, I'm sure we could get one for articles if I ask the boss nicely?

What do you reckon to that?

I've not read a hunting magazine in years, but I do read this forum several times a week! See where I'm going?

There are far more interesting hunting stories here and they're all free :clapper:

This is a double edged sword though... we're trying to promote airgunning so stories would have to reflect that.

The airgun magazines know that anti shooting pressure groups read their articles and try and use them to further restrict shooting. This is why they appear to have become more sanitised over the years. It's caused alot of comments to be made, that people are going soft, but it's all to do with protecting the sport for as long as they can.

A similar policy would have to be adopted here. Shooting stories are fine. So are pictures of dead quarry, techniques, tips etc. But stories of poaching (aka armed trespass), night shooting game (anything other than rabbit or rat), or taking unsuitable quarry (fox, deer, etc) are strictly verbotten.

This is 2009. Our enemies are still among us, still trying to ban us and, at best, restrict us further. I can't let this forum become a catalyst for that so I reserve the right to ask for some of the wording of these articles to be changed, like any magazine editor would.

Does that sound fair?

I know that some magazines try to get 13 issues out in 12 months, and make more money I suppose. I was very surprised though when my mate asked his wife to pick up a Sporting Gun at the weekend. He likes the year planner they include in January. So on the 4th of January, she comes home with the February one? Do they have to be so far in front?

I used to get Airgun World and Airgunner. Not so keen on them anymore, might pick one up an odd time if looking for something oir fancy a read on lunch breaks at work.

Since i've started using the internet(quite a late starter) I tend to just read hunting related things online. Spending a bit of time reading through this forum is better than most magazines as there is so much content to look at.
