think theres only one battery

its a common belief/mistake that the battery is supposed to be run right the way down... i've done it myself with a clulite rigid pack from arthur carters... damn thing cost me nearly £100 quid and after a few weeks the charge only lasted about 3 hours and it was a big back breaker 12volt 20amp pack that lasted nearly 2 nights on 1 charge when i first got it new...

the battery should be recharged every time its been used even if only for a short while... deben packs have a green light on them and when it goes out then the battery is good to go... clulite usually just have a charging time depending on how its used eg. 15mins usage= 2 hours charge... i dont like the clulite battery packs because its too easy to over charge them etc...

Feel free to correct me those who know about these things, but I read on my new sealed lead acid battery instructions not to that fully drain the battery or this will render the warranty useless.

Is this because it causes damage to the plates when requiring a full charge?

I'm not sure, and believe me I really ought to be, but I also thought that draining it and giving it a full charge would give it a 'full memory'.

Is this just for the solid chemical rechargeable type?

well the lad i go lamping with (hes got the lamp and no dogs, ive got the dogs and no lamp and we live a mile away from one anouther so it works rather well) he got a new lamp for chritmas, good quality, so he let it run down (as he was advised)and then charged it up for about 24 hours then the blooming thing only lasted two hours last night  ....my question is that is it faulty and should we take it back or does it just take a while for it work properly? we used to use a quad battery and a lamp off the top of a car which he then put a button on with a hole load of masking tape, now that thing weighed a ton but it lasted most of the night

this may sound like a silly question to some but we have never owned a new lamp :icon_redface: the hillbillys that we are

andy advise would be lovley

try using it a few more times some batterys take a few charges before they work to there full pertential
