lampinglurcher 36
i was interested in the breed when i was in the UK after hearing of a half decent one used as a gundog. some of the lads out here use them as pigdogs, not a great out and out lugger but have a great nose and are tough as old boots no matter what the terrain. i think they fair pretty well when crossed with a grey. as far as gameness goes in england good ones are few and far between. ship one over from SA and you'll have a decent dog. stevemac 442
had pur RRs for thirty years and have toyed with the Idea of ridgyx grey many times. ive used the breed for most game out here. Ridgebacks tend to suit different types of hunting depending their make up what I mean by that is that some are more inclined to gun dog work while some have more the drive of a hound while others do favour sight work. A good friend of mine had a angora goat stud her 3 ridgeback bitches accounted for many a fox around kidding season. this does not mean they were hunted on the foxes but that they patrolled around her stock and picked any they came across. I have to at the moment that I run with my deerxgrey and the 3 of them do very well, rabbits to hogs. stevemac Quote Link to post

adskibullus 0
ive seen a few ridgeback x's in rescue centers so they cant be that good. i suppose that theyd have a good nose but the price of the ridgebacks plus the avalibilty of a good working type here in the uk would be hard to find. does anybody run gsd x's any more? sure a ridgeback would offer no more than a good gsd?
