The Ferret Tamer 1
That red waxed stuff needs to be double knotted mate. Otherwise you seem to be getting the hang of it. Regards FT Quote Link to post
RichardC18 0
ye i've recently started making my own nets and i had that exact same problem with that waxy stuff slipping-get the proper nylon or hemp mate Quote Link to post
TARA G 0
On about nets I ve got some of the normal horrible nylon ones and also bought some at the game fair this year that was not hemp but a new material that works just as good as but doesn t need hanging to dry and it s nice to work with too - doesn t tangle like the horrible ones. Any one have any idea what material it could be ? I need some more nets badly and I m happy to try and make my own but don t know what the material it could possibly be. Remember I m quite new to all this so thought I d ask some of you experienced ones that use the different types of netting. Tara. Quote Link to post
tony d 0
it would probably be spun nylon cheers tony Quote Link to post
The one 8,483
Get yourself a cheap spool of twine mate and practice with that till your ready that waxed stuff doesn't sound like the stuff to start with Quote Link to post

Brimmer 220
Might have a go myself during the summer when there is nothing to do, I suppose it is a good feeling to work with your own made nets. (until the old man leaves them on the holes!) Quote Link to post
phil67 0
I got a kit from K,P&S nets they advertise in the countrymans weekly, you get 2 sets of instructions i use the simplyfied method takes about 1 hour to make a 1meter net. Quote Link to post
Weedy 7
I've made my own nets for years now, but when I first started with them I used garden twine to practice with. Almost like using hemp, and I prefer using hemp too. the three ply stuff is my prefered choice. I have knitted nets using a thread call tiger thread that they use in saddlery its very strong and makes some realy good netts but is expensive. They are my favourite nets of all. Cheers Weedy.
