Guest JohnGalway
Keep the rifle pointed in a safe direction incase it's a slow burner and goes off. I think the advice is keep it that was for 30 seconds, I'd leave it a minute or two. Then extract Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
I don't know about Official, but on most boxes of Ammo or Cartridges it says something along the lines of; "In the Unlikely event of a Misfire, keep pointed in a safe direction for 30 seconds, then unload" So John has it word for word Hang fires are dangerous business, very dangerous. I once went shooting with a keeper and his .22LR. I think the ammo he had was either old or damp. I lamped a Rabbit, he pulled the trigger, click! He cycled the bolt, round went on the floor. About 20 seconds later, Bang! Off it went, in a safe direction thankfully. Risky! SS Quote Link to post

The one 8,487
i think thats what it says on the packet wait 30 second's but as said before i'd wait a bit longer Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
i would wait about a minute just to be extra safe, that way its in the barrel and controled if it does go off, had a guy misfire once on a military range, stood up during a live firing turned around to us, with the weapon, and said its jamed, only to be jumped on by about 6 people, it was one of our first times on the range and his last.......... i can still hear the quatermaster shooting at him...... Fidgety 8
Thanks chaps, only ever had one misfire with 22rf, and pretty much did as above - well, left it for about 5 mins, but the proceedure was much the same. Quote Link to post
