stealthy1 3,964
MK3 take the batteries out when you get home, MK3M leave the batteries in and switch the collars off with locator, I have MK3M's, don't have to t**t about taking the collars apart when I get home, priceless. Tyla 3,179
Yeah taking the batteries out is a nuisance. i have the mk3 locator and one collar already, just wanted to know if the mk3m collars are compatible with my locator. Quote Link to post
stubby 175
depends on money available, mk3 collars Ive seen £35 on e bay, the new mk3m £50, so depending on amount of extra collars wanted, 3 of the new ones, would set you back £150, but for that, you could get 4 mk3's and have a tenner change, after all, how hard is it taking batteries out of the mk3, not much as good as the mk3m sound, and I'd like to try one, Ive already seen posts of people forgetting to switch collars on before putting ferrets down holes, and others saying the collar itself is naff, I personnaly will stick with the old mk3 Quote Link to post

TARA G 0
I have one of each and I prefer the flat one which I take is the mk 3 original one that came with the finder. I find that the mk3m is heavier and more bulky and wish I could get another of the original ones. Tara. Quote Link to post

Couldnt beleive it, went to locate it, then realized i hadnt turned it on! As for people moaning about taking batterys out, well, you dont have to take them fully out, just undo the collar making sure the terminals arent still connected.. And yes the collars all work on the same locator.. Quote Link to post
FlashFerret 1
MK3M: Waterproof, better leather collar, sealed unit with magnetic switch. Also they've stopped making the old one anyway. Quote Link to post

whippeter69 88
The MKM collars switch off by a magnet, the MK locator had a magnet in it so will the MKM collars work with the MK3 receiver, i think thats what he means Quote Link to post
weekye 0
all mark 3 boxs have a magnetic bottom to switch collars on/off, both collars use the same box Quote Link to post
dh90 6
Got a new mk3m colllar for xmas, used it once and think i prefer the original mk3 collar. Apart from nearly forgetting to switch it on, it went off while working once, took batteries out and put them back in and it was fine. dont no what caused it and it hadnt just switched off as it wouldnt switch back on. And aswell as that the old MK3 worked with hearing aid batteries (which i got for free). This one needs the propper 394 batteries. Only had the one outing with it so far and may come to prefer it with more use but first impressions make me prefer the original mk3 collar. Quote Link to post
