erewash chubbing

i thought id do a spot of chub fishing today, so when the missus got home from work at half one i quickly set off on the 15minute drive to the erewash, tackled up and started eyeing up possible swims. eventually i arrived at a swim that screamed chub. so i moulded the crumb into a couple of tangerine sized balls and threw them into water next to some half submerged tree branches, and started to fill the swim feeder when a splash came from where i had thrown the bait. now this got me excited knowing that there was definately fish in the area! :dance: so on went the bread flake and in went the trap when almost the same time as i had placed the rod on the rest, the tip started rattling away TAP TAP TAP "god this cant be a bite already can it" i thought to myself, but the tapping persisted so i struck and was met with a solid resistance that led me all over the swim trying at every chance to head into the snags that line the banks. after about a minute or so that felt more like half hour a got the fish into the net and the suprise was that it wasnt a chub that i had caught but a brown trout! my first ever trout and i had caught it from a river barely 7 feet wide and 3 feet deep! it wasnt a monster only about 2-3lb but i was hopping about like a right numpty i just could not belive it. after releasing it and catching a couple of decent chub from the swim i moved to the next and caught another nice chub before the light faded and it was time to go home. all in all it was a good couple of hours

ive heard there were trout in the erewash but i never expected to see one never mind catch one in the first 10 seconds of the first time on that stretch! im well chuffed, just wish i could of took a picture

no not yet valley, im going back for a longer session tomorrow to see what i can winkle out armed with my camera. i must of caught the trout from about a foot and half of water, im hoping its there tomorrow so i can put up a pic.

a couple of the chub were about the same length as the trout but chunkier, but i dont know how much they weighed though. the only reason i know how much the trout weighed is because i was given a 2lb rainbow from a fluff flinger and mine was a little bigger

dont use rusty scales mate they make you look a c**t and what you mean you were givin a rainbow go catch your own mate

i never turn down a free meal valley, just wait til i come down your neck of the woods, im gonna have your missus cooking me a 3 course meal . you dont look like a c**t mate just a liar whats been caught out
