webber 2
BASC’S MEMBERSHIP NUMBERS HIT RECORD HIGH 01 January 2009.................................immediate release The British Association for Shooting and Conservation’s membership numbers reached a record high during December. The number of individual members passed the 130,000 mark. During the course of 2008, despite the credit crunch, the recruitment of new members has exceeded expectations. BASC chief executive, John Swift, said: “BASC membership has continued to rise steadily which we believe is testament to the strength of an association that fields a wide range of expert specialist skills to respond constructively and with real force to public events for the benefit of all shooters.†The exact figure at 11am on 17 December was 130,023. Deker 3,478
Personal experience says the CA are a waste of time and BASC are expensive...But I have found the BASC useful and helpful generally...I should stress that I have never had to claim on any insurance so I can't specifically comment how they fare in this department. However, I have read (unlike the vaste majority) the full terms and conditions of my BASC insurance (which also covers me for Humane roadside despatch) and it is pretty reasonable! I have "heard" horror stories about ALL the organisations so I suspect it is a bit of a lottery, but the BASC is at least quite large and been around 100 years now!! Pays your money and takes your choice... Quote Link to post

I was told that I was only covered if I made them specifically aware that I was doing this, although there was no charge for inclusion, I dont believe you are covered automatically. So unless you have made them aware you are doing this, I would check. Quote Link to post

You need to apply for this seperately..over and above their normal insurance..like I did several years back..they want to know why, and if you are accepted you get it...NO extra costs!! You are correct in that it is not automatic...another good reason for reading the terms and conditions of ANY insurance policy!! Quote Link to post
