Just wondering if those who have bought hunting dvds in the past could take 2 mins to vote in this poll?

When you are selecting a hunting dvd to buy, is packaging and presentation as important as the actual content of the dvd or is it irrelevant? For example if you were to pay £10 for a dvd that had nothing printed on it and came in a plain sleeve with free postage, but it was a good quality dvd which you watched again and again, would you think it was money well spent, or would you be disappointed that it didnt come in a fancy box with pics on the front and back, or the dvd itself didnt have printing on it?

Personally I think its the content that your paying for, but everyones different so it would be good to guage popular opinion so I know whether cover sleeves/boxes etc are something that people look for, or do they not care as long as the film is interesting and watchable??

Cheers in advance

ETA poll ;)

Ive not seen that one is it any good?

The thing is though, at some point that dvd would have been released by the person who made the film, and they would have charged whatever price they deemed "fair" for it. Its only once a dvd has been around for a while and circulated/talked about and pirated to feck, that you can get copies of it for £3 etc :D Its only fair that the film maker gets something for their time and trouble, so when a dvd first comes out you are always going to pay more for it than when its been around for a while and is widely available.

How long is the fox one and how much action is in it just out of interest? ie how many do you see being dug/bolted/killed etc

my point is that that version is a pirated copy and has been in circulation for a long time... some computer wiz kid just stamped a fancy cover on it and if i didnt catch on i could have paid out for one i already had... so i voted for the second option!

as for the digs and the dogs... the two black dogs are very useful and most foxes are either netted, released or despatched with a pistol... i think it lasts for about a bit more than 1hour... i agree though, the maker should get his fair share for his time and effort... production companies would help the makers get their money for them by putting them in shops but thats not usually the case... what happens is that the maker puts one together and then sells it himself on ebay etc and within weeks they are back on again in a plastic sleeve... if they were sold by shops then at least when it came xmas or birthdays etc the maker would get his quids in... there is'nt very many girl/boyfriends that will buy there partners a rough pirated copy... so all and all, film makers make them then put them in production through the hunting stores and get your quids... i'm makin one myself at the minute but my effort is just for fun not profit... you might see it on ebay lol....

Can those who vote yes please elaborate on their reasons why the packaging is important to them? do you think it enhances the product and makes it more "collectible" or does it just give you the feeling that the person who made the dvd put a lot of effort into it? or some other reason?

If two new dvds come out (hunting or any other type) ones got action shots, a nice description and a catchy title with a shiny cherry on top, the others plain, with "hunting DVD" wrote on it in permo marker, which one you going to buy? The second might contain the best footage but if you don't sell it nobody would ever know ..

Yes, and a good point there timmy  I guess thats where I would think word of mouth comes into play? I would imagine most folks on here have heard of say the wrecking crew? or fen fever? so if you see the name and a few folk have told you its a good watch you would maybe buy it based on that report? But I also see TJs point if your at a game fair you would maybe pick the one that looks the nicest? I have watched a few of these fancy boxed ones and found myself bored when some guy is waffling on for half an hour, or fast forwarding to try to find bits with more action, so I guess the box isnt much use if the dvd isnt up to much? Thanks for the opinions folks, keep them coming ;)

i voted yes, as if you were choosing between a few dvds to buy, you choose the best presented one, if its simply going to be mail order, then i dont think it matters.

is it a dvd made by yourself S?

jack nailed on the head for me...in order for some one to buy it....they have to pic it up in the first place..........without that initial contact...no sale
