when do you class a dog a legend instead of a good dog.... surely a dog would have to of had 5-6 full working seasons under its belt before you could class it a legend.... im not 100% positive on this but i heard snowy only had 1 or 2 .......

In my opinion a dogs only as good as it's last performance and beleive that many dogs are over-rated when they haven't been fully tested !!!!

As for Snowy i'm not sure how many seasons she ran for, she ran extremely well in 2002 competition but i think she's labeled a legend through winning the Forley Legends !!!

All the best Tommy ;);)

i too think a lot are well over rated... the bitch dancer should be classed as a legend for winning the forley and the doubles in one season, and a bitch from don southard witch won 3 competitions, 3 weeks in a row i think it was called lady. id of thought foxy was more a legend than snowy. but thats jmo.

Baz mate If u read the post again u will see i never said snowy was a Legend , but she was a dog that every one was talking about at the time ,,thats what this post was about , stars in the making , dogs people are talking about as the one to beat ...

Have u seen any really good dogs , dogs that stand out , make the job look a bit easier than the rest , u no the type im

on about , and yes Snowy didnt last long on the coursing feild , long enough though , she has a belly full of pups and they are all sold , £500 a go !!!!!!! If i had to pick a coursing dog to be labeled a Legend it would be Sankys Blondi..........

There are a lot of tidy dogs about , i have seen some good young dogs run this year , one was E Commons young black and white dog really took my fancy , it has all the makeings of somthing very good , but as u no time will tell , They say Jacko has a reall good dog , u said some of the pups out of the charli foxy dog were running well , maybe one of thease will make somthing special ..

the coursing game is a hard one now and only the really dedicated lads will keep running the dogs , there are a few coursing lads on here , thats why i put the post up , just to see what was doing well ,not a debate about what was a legend or not......

Max

its a black and tan dog called Joe , I think it was Dannys dog , and he sold it to J Brown for £5000 and CN bought it back for a song , after the *** , its bred out of carfeilds Joe and CN old bitch , I think , will see him this week and find out for sure , he is breeding the same dog to the bitch i ran , out of Charli x Foxy this bitch (splash) when i had her was tortured , she got some huge slips and always seemed to kill her hare , i would fancy theas pups over the snowy ones , splash hasnt been injured , feet are perfect , her only downfall was she is a little c**t with other dogs , just like her mother foxy ........but running ability , shes got it all , pitty she was an evil little twat or i would of still had her !!!!!!!!

The Flint dog u seen , was an avarage dog , bit of a plodder , most of the runs on them tapes were early on in the season green hares , i think it produced a good one ???? Isaw him run once , on smallish land , he couldnt get to the hares fast enough , i think he would of ran better on the big land , if he could stay ...

ITs true not a great deal of dogs make 5 seasons , bu t the ones that do

are the dogs to breed of , good strong, tuff dogs , not the one season wonder dogs who are as lame as crows after e couple of seasons running on the flattest of land, Baz your dog must have a bit about him to be running strong in his 5th season , its not always the dogs who are at fault for not lasting , its the owners , just not nowing when the dog has had enough , or the dog s not right and stil running them small injurys turn in to big ones.........

I have a coursing vid with a dog called "nipper" on it, seemed

a real good dog, anyone know more about him/her ?

The dog 'Nipper' you are talking was a real good dog !! He was full brother to the great bitch 'Foxy'. These dogs were bred from a bitch called 'Seagull' back to a full saluki called 'Cruise' both were supposed to have been great dogs !! As will have seen from watching 'Nipper' on video, he wasn't an incredible fast dog, but had bags of stamina and killed lots of hares, got him on video killing three hares of one slip !!!

As well as been a great dog he's sired some great dogs he's the father of 'Blondie' Forley 2000 winner, grandfather of 'Fettle' Forley 2001 winner and produced another good dog in 'Tramp', plus lots of other good dogs !!! There's footage available of both 'Nipper' and 'Joey' on video and i think anyone who watches them cannot help but be impressed with their stamina !! Great BIG land dogs !!

All the best Tommy ;);)

i seen the tape with nipper on and it was very strong......over the last few seasons ive seen a lot of well bred pups ruined by tits that have hammered them, and made them jack before december is out. a lot of folk seem to think because something is bred from a great dog its gonna naturally be a world beater

Sorry for being a little dumb on this one lads..i'm a lamping guy but the dogs Nipper and Foxy you talk of were they from the same litter as a dog called Reefer? Cheers Andy.

Yeah thats correct Andy !!!

Foxy, Nipper and Reefer are litter mates and are all based around the breeding of C. Nutall !! I have heard of the Reefer dog as it seemed to have sired a fair few pups but have never watched it run, if it was anything likes its litter mates then it would have been decent !!!!

All the best Tommy ;);)
