so if i go out me self a saluki i got a hare killer really?? and when it kills it will it retrieve it two me or leave it were it killed??

 

it will retrive it if you train it, i have one hear that retrives as well as a field trail lab all alive right to hand.

Nothing to do with the topic really, but why do people always want someone to take them places to hunt? whats wrong with being a big brave boy (or girl ) and getting out there with your dog by yourself? If your planning to go to hot places, you will get far less grief if your just a lone dog walker out for a wander, than if theres a gang of youse. I may be biased as I have hunted by myself since I was about 12 years old, I cant understand why anyone would sit around waiting for opportunities to spoon fed to them when they can get out there and do it all on their own

In my opinion on this topic, i would say yes there are lamping dogs that will kill fen hares and some that wont. But if you were into fen coursing what breed would you get for the job? I think most people would say a saluki X as thats what they are best at.

Sam as if you wanted a dog for lamping small fields what breed would you get?? proberly and whippet/greyhound cross, even though some salukis will be good lamping dogs they are not best sutied to the job.

 

I could go on forever, if your a shotting person and you want a dog to retrive phesants, what breed would you get? proberly a lab or spainal as they are best for that job even though some lurcher are good retriveres they arnt best sutied for the job.

 

So what i am saying is people get the breed of dog thats best sutied obviosly they wont all be good at the job but thats how it goes.

ask for help by all means but your time would be far better spent getting out there and looking, who in their right mind is going to tell someone they dont know the best bits to go to? If someone asks me I would send them to the shittiest bit I knew just for badness, I want all the gear for myself its better off in my dogs bellies than some lazy git who isnt prepared to do the legwork

This guy is on drugs or something I wouldnt even waste time replying to him He said in an earlier topic the best hares in the country are in Perth No wonder he thinks theyre hard if hes chasing them with collie crosses or a bull cross Im not prejudiced against collie crosses either, I own 2, but I enjoy them for what they are - rabbiting dogs!
