I've never read so much shit in all my life!!! I cannot believe someone can generalise a breed like that. Do you honestly believe everything that was written in that article or do you just chose what suits?

Anonymous, What do you run.... I have been watching your posts with interest since i saw you getting slated in a couple of posts. And now i think i understand why, you seen to argue about everything what is put up. You never seem to agree with anything. Do you have a saluki??

I don't have a saluki cross, no. Never seen the need for them to be honest. Been out with plenty though, did once see a good one, topper of a dog. But that is it, it was the dog that was good, not because it was a saluki cross but cos it was a right good dog. There is someone reading these threads looking to buy a Saluki as if all Saluki's are the be all..... which they aren't. I've got a collie cross and a Bull cross. BTW, I do agree with some posts.....

Well you agreements are very few and far between.....I dont see how you can comment on a breed of dog because you have been out with a cpl. You have to have one and have worked one, before you can comment on the breed, surely...

I suppose it depends on what you are commenting on doesn't it? Everyone has there comments on how bad a football team is or how bad a player is even though they haven't played at the highest level. I've been out with plenty saluki's to know you get your good ones and your bad ones. Are you telling me I'm wrong? Anyhow, if you read back, all I contributed in this thread was to question one guys statement regarding his "expert" view that only a Saluki will catch a winter hare on the fens. I simply can't see that being the case. Why would I need to own a Saluki to have an opinion on that? With your rule of thought, it is him that needs to own every breed of dog known to man to rule them out!

I have been out working with my friends greyhounds over the years, see them catch and miss but i wouldnt be able to comment on them, as i know to little.. Do you live near the fens? is that why you challenged the bloke?

they are the only breed of dogs mate that will stop hares on the fen at this time of year no other breed will catch em up there now
dont be daft mate other dogs have and still will take hares on the fen this time of the year

Thank F that!!! Thought I was going mad!!! Either that or we aren't experianced coursing men....

i cant see how people can say no other dogs will catch them on the fen this time of the year all other dogs must run backwards december/january :D

Some folk become that narrow minded to there own kind, they can't see past the end of there own noses. You'd think every Saluki was a world beater just cos it's a saluki!!! I've seen some really good saluki's and I've seen some duffers, just like any breed. But to say only a Saluki could catch a winter hare on the fens and actually believe it, well......:rofl:   :rofl:

i for one agree with you JOE ;)

Thanks Bill ;)

can any one who slags off salukis and the genuine saluki breed hare stoppers actually say i go coursing week in week out?

i dont think so. iv run theses dogs on feild and fen all over and they are absoloutlie unbetable on true winter hares. you should stick to chasing your mixy rabbits. :icon_redface: and as for the dogs used before the saluki arrived on the seen the travellers stag dogs with the shaggy coats wernt in the same leage and rarley could stop a hare given 80 in january. face facts idiots

i have Saluki/greys i just think its bollox what you say about no other dog will kill hares on the fen this time of year

a good mate of mine has a deerhound/grey takes her down to lincon very regular and she never pulled up and takes her fair share

Hey Tomo, I respect that. All I have done here mate is questioned one guys opinion that only a saluki will catch a hare on the fens in the next 8 weeks. Now, c'mon mate, is that really a statememnt you'd expect someone in the know to come out with? We ain't talking about catching 3,4 or 5 here, we are talking about a single hare!!!
