bucknut 1
Waiting with baited breath (usually stinking breath) I too have ben looking for gen on pedigree whippets, the folks usually tak about beddie crosses but is this only to strengthen then bone structure up or what? Beddies up north seem to have faded away into pets not so many workers. Any gen wud b gud. Buck Quote Link to post

doxhope 2
Good tool for the 'one for the pot lads' do you think they miss more than they catch Dont know, I never count what I miss.. Kept whippets before lamping came in, had some great experiences with them.. Quote Link to post
kreet 0
kept whippets in the past had a tiny black bitch only ever run her day time and she never missd a rabbit i didnt run her alot specificly to hunt she was more a pet but every rabbit she put up her self and naild. had two coursing whippets not long ago one wasnt intrested the other turnt out a nice bitch very fast has been doing well in the show ring also but i wouldnt run her on anything other than flat grass wouldnt be worth the risk as she is so delicate. i personaly wouldnt have anything else as a dog just for rabbits they are pritty bidable and very fast but seem to manage a good lot of runs i would say deff go for one . weejohn 3
fantastic rabbit dogs , i know i dont have a pure whippet , she is a 3/4 whippet 1/4 beddy, she doesnt catch as much as my bigger dog but is a joy to watch sticking to the rabbits bum twisting and turning it inside out and she looks really delicate and i run her in places i wouldnt run my bigger dog as there is less chance of her getting injured. Guest MY LAW
what do the dog folk think of them as a working dog, posted in my last post about gettin one, 5out of 10 Quote Link to post
kreet 0
a few picks of the coursing whippets i owned not long ago only around 4 months the fawn bitch and the brindle is around 6 months. Quote Link to post
shepp 2,285
It looks like quite a lot people keep them as a second dog, with a more robust lurcher for rough ground and the whippet for gentler terrain which requires pure speed. Quote Link to post
whippetmike 3
i personaly think they are great workers on most quarry and ground they are courageouus little dogs with all the heart of any dog with great speed and stamina no matter what other people say ! they have been the best choice of running dog i put my money and time too!!
