Rolfe 2
I ventured forth today for an hour with the dogs and the camera having been laid low over christmas with this dreaded flu virus thingy that's about......it's the first time i have felt like doing anything to be honest as it certainly knocked me for six. One again i apologise to the experienced snaremen and women out there for pointing out the "bleeding obvious" but it may just help some of those beginning to learn the art of snaring to avoid some potential pit-falls. I found a perfect example of where old brock had just about managed to squeeze underneath the fence wire using an existing rabbit run.......the hair on the fence shows that this particular run would be one to avoid putting a rabbit wire on. Other good snaring points........and there are a lot of these where i live.........is where rabbits emerge from dry ditches and out on to the crops to feed. Snares placed field side........(from where the runs emerge) are virtually invisible in the bleached grasses of the headland. But here again you have to be careful..... as in the picture (with the phone in it) shows where old brock and maybe charlie too.........emerge from the dry ditch having widened an existing rabbit run.......so again not the place to put a rabbit wire. The other pictures show a nice run you would put a wire on.......emerging from a ditch-bank........and one that at first glance isn't really obvious, but if you look closely you can see where rabbits are passing through some narrow fence rails (discoloured bottom rail).......this would be the almost perfect location to avoid non-target species getting caught due to the narrow gap between the rails. ianrob 2
You smooth git Rolfe I thought that too RatSnatcher. Rolfe can trap more than rabbits. I could refer to recent pussycat related articles, but thought better of it. Rolfe's a machine. Edited December 27, 2008 by ianrob Quote Link to post
