Guest hyperion
a lot depends on where you are, who you know and how you approach land owners! when i was down in cornwall i had no problem getting permission but it took me two full years of asking around to find some where in dorset, and then i had to pay for it! cheers hyperion Quote Link to post

ulverston moocher 60
maybe your in a better area where I am theres farms all around us and they are either part of the shooting cyndicat or the farmers just will not give you the time of day I dont know wether it is down to they have been taken advantage of before or live stock been damaged or what but its bloody hard getting permision around here. whippeter69 88
I go with a friend and we just ask politely if we can do some ferreting and ask if he would like to join us to gain his trust and respect for the land and animals and give it too weeks or so and ask if you can go lamping, he/she should have not got a problem after seeing you ferreting responsibly. Guest world.hunters
well done on getting the permission. Alot depends on where you live as some areas are used alot for shooting depending on the game that inhabit the land and another factor is age i think if there is young people wanting permission you would be more sucessful getting a relitive to ask for you. kent scotty 0
most of the land round here isnt owned by farmers but land owners who own a lot of the farms.my family are farm workers and tennats so i kinda know the big owners and i cant get permission as they have sold(for big money)the pigeon shooting to buy a day syndicates! if you try the smaller farms all you get is sorry had to much trouble with pikeys with dogs or had problems with sheep worrying and dont want to risk it etc!! i am looking into ferreting as its the only way i can think of that may get me in the door so i can ask for other stuff latter after a year or so! its different all over the country depend on whos been there before i think. it dont help that down here any one with a lurcher is instantly expected to speak in a irish accent. scotty Quote Link to post
