Boxing Day walk

HI, Was thinking maybe a ring ouzel... but it could be a winter visitor....maybe some kind of thrush ?

I am no twitcher but I dont think they are fieldfare or any type of thrush wrong beak and body shape also the longer swept wing in flight not very thrushy

the more rounded body and stubby beak reminds me of some of the smaller estuary/shore birds. Some of these birds are also regular visitors inland there is a local footie pitch near Grimsby/Cleethorpes that is covered with Oystercatchers during the winter time for some reason.

As I say am no expert just a guess lads

Yep....old goldies they are for 100%...sometimes seen mixed in with lapwings....

summer on the moor's, winter on the arables....

great pics...

 

supposed to be very good eating

 

 

not much on them mate.... ;) even smaller than a partridge..... :blink:

bigger than snipe tho ,good things come in small bundles, might shoot one to try it , lapwings are very good eating, apparently :angel:
