jazz_11 5
well. im not interested in fox hunting and hare coursing as i dont have those sort of dogs i have a spaniel..im more curious. on the shoot we go on up by brecon a few people say that fox hunting is still legal but only with one or 2 dogs i belive no more than 2 dogs otherwise its classed as a pack(something like that) also with hare coursing its only one dog not 2 ... is this true or have all fox hunting stopped with dogs... as if it is tru aslong as you have 1 or 2 dogs your not breaking the law. can someone put me straight on this please thanks Quote Link to post

fireman 11,038
Fbc your wrong mate, fox hunting is not banned just heavly restricted. You can use 100 hounds to find a line to hunt as the law evolves around stress caused on the hunted,if the animal that is being looked for doesn't know it's being hunted then it can't suffer stress. When the line has been found and the animal tracked and then knows it being hunted then you can only use 2 dogs to flush to a gun.Rats and rabbits are the only animals that the dogs can catch themselves.Same as with hares,2 dogs to flush to gun, doesn't say what breed of dog just if they catch it and your caught with it and no gun, your'll get nicked. Stevebeno 0
Its banned but surly accidents happen as in you slip your dog to a rabbit and it kicks up a hare or even comes across a fox . Once the dogs there and on its way its impossible to call it off the chase. where would you stand here if you didnt intencially slip ur dog?? or even if your dog brings down a fox and you then shoot it?? You have to prove you tried everything in your means to stop the dog from catching it, wich is a problem because who is going to belive you. Quote Link to post

Guest miller1989
Cross the bridge when you get to it,is what i say, dont let them worry us because when all the antis cats, pet rabbits, bins etc etc etc start getting took/raided by foxes/pests and the number grow the LAW will change, theres got to be an easier way to get around fox controll, flushing to the gun, whos to say its going to kill it instantly everytime! Some lurchers will kill a fox faster than(the gun) some wont! But at least hunting with hounds, lurchers, terriers etc the quarry has its chances to escape they know the land just like we know our homes, one round with a gun it may not die for a few hours! 2 hounds,1 lurcher, 2 lurchers, one terrier,2 terriers, its going to be 30secs-1min on most outings,(not everytime)! Stop thinking about a wild animal a pest, think about you children, street crime, etc and dont forget your eggs, lamb, pet rabbits, pheasants, you name it! Quote Link to post
