K thanks mate, not going to buy that crap anymore, thanks

Yep was told by an old boy who "claims" he had very good deerhound X greyhound crosses that he said the best nights they worked was when they were fed an hour or less before going out.

Not eating before exercise causes cramp and stiches for humans and i have been told it is the same for working dogs.

So if you want the best out of your dog i would feed it a tin of dog food about an hour before it goes out lamping/ferreting.

:icon_eek::wallbash: C,mon mate, you're either comming the c :censored: t or know feck all about dogs. :hmm:

I'll let you tell us which it is. ;)

Is there need to be like that,

Just saying what a old lurcher worker from my village told me, i asked him the same question and he told me to feed them an hour before working with a light food.

Yeah mate, sorry to be sarcastic; but don't believe what old timers tell you, and don't repeat it on here, just makes you look a prat !! NEVER feed a dog just before going out !! I give mine a half meal in the morning, then, when we get back from a lamping session, she is dried off, brushed down and given the other half of her meal when she has cooled down .

Cheers.

Seems to me whippeteer you are getting bullied by those that should know better.

It's not a good idea to feed your dog a hour before lamping. Most people feed their dogs a light meal in the morning and then a proper meal when they get back from lamping. Come on lads it's Xmas , no need to wipe the floor with the lad.

in 30 years of keeping greyhounds and lurchers i can honestly say ive never fed a tinned dog food as it is 70%water;i feed raw veg raw meat on the bones with a decent all in one as a base ;on a lamping day i feed abit of chicken in the morn and as my dogs are large bull xs i throw them a slice of brown bread mid afternoon to put abit of fuel in the tank ! and one killed 2 rabbits off one slip on monday night !
