Sometimes even using a different washing detergent can cause this - non-bio seems to be best for washing the bedding of dogs with sensitive skins. And do you ALWAYS feed her exactly the same food - it could be a food intolerance? But I must admit, it does look most like a contact allergy. One of mine (Ridgeback) got a rash like that years ago - I think that charging about through long, wet grass had caused it, she was very short coated too. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Thanks- I have changed just about everything we use in the house to sensitive or eco friendly...even washing with soapnuts would you believe!! I have also steam cleaned the carpets to remove anything that might be there...We also changed her food and are very strict about what she gets. Sadly, she has a new outbreak as of yesterday this time back of head/neck left shoulder, left rear leg. Husband took her to a different place than usual for their runabout and it seems to have been something from there. If it was height of Summer I could understand it being so frequent but what the heck is around at this time of year? Have just invested in an attachment for the bike, so it looks like I will have to get out and about to try and burn off her energy in a way that will give her a chance to get over these skin issues. little nell 0 Posted January 15, 2010 Author Report Share Posted January 15, 2010 Just an update to this She true to form developed another rash this autumn after a spring and summer free from trauma, well except for the split rear pad! I was away for a week with work and came back to this She ended up on antibiotics to get rid, and vet took samples, which only came back showing staph intermedius. None the wiser, so have got a referral to a dermatologist, and am also going to get her thyroid checked.
