Recently after applying for my shotgun certificate successfully my mates at my local shoot were asking me what gun am i thinking about getting, i told them a pump action 410 and they all thought "ow u pussy get a 12 bore" well the main thing what is shoot are rabbits and i dont want to be ruining the meat on them in order to sell them so this is why a 410 is handy.

Now since the age of 11, i have been shooting a 410 and im not a bad shot considering i had shot (my best with a 410) 8/10 with my clay trap, that was with a 410 bolt action webly&scott a awesome gun.

But ask my friend who is a serious rabbiter from up north he would go out with bloke armed with 410 and have great success and think that the 410 is a great caliber for rabbiting.

So what do you think is the 410 underestimated or what

IMO the 410 is a bit like the whippet, many people underestimate them but you ask the people who work with them and they have great numbers with the two.

So lets hear you opinions

Thanks

It only takes one piece of shot, and you can just as well put one on the right place with a .410 as you can a 12b as long as you shoot acordingly.

Love my W&S and really aught to do more with it; might use it on Boxing day!

I think you misunderstood my post...air rifle or rimfire....I would struggle to put one lump of shot into a bunnies head with ANY shotgun!!

i only shoot the 410 now.i have a over and under 30 inch multi choke, cost £1800.00 so its a good un.id go up against almost anyone with it against a 12 bore,i shoot a decent bit of game and a lot of clays,i can consitently shoot fitsac targets out to 70 yards no problem.iwon the 410 world champs last year drew this year but lost on the shoot off(shot shit though)ha and came 3rd in the national small bore champs this year which was 75-410/7-28/75-20 bore....shot shit again though ha...so you could say im a big fan,the only people who dont like them are the ones who cant shoot well enough to achive good results...

very very underestimated calbre and ifyour aiming in the right place it will kill anything a 12 will

The .410 is a cracker of a gun,(i have 3. why that many i dont know), nice to mooch around with and proberly the only shotgun i would use specially for rabbits and squirrels. i really enjoy using the .410s as well, bit of a trip down memory lane to where i first used a shotgun...still use it today. cartridges can be expensive and tricky to get the ones you want but thats well ou weighed by the actuall gun.

Sorry Deker, I wasn't responding directly to your comments about putting holes in them! I meant that as with a 12b, it only takes one piece of lead to do the job.

I have two .410's

I really do enjoy using them when the time is right, normally going for a wander looking for squirrels.

As with any gun, be it Air Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun or Rifle, if the shot is in the right place it will kill.

There was an old boy lived not far from here, he used to shoot .410 (I don't think he owned a 12) and used to take a old paper case cartridge, fill it with three S.G size balls of lead, and then roll the top.

See the hole in a fox with them, only once I saw it and can still remember :icon_eek:

And hear them rattling through a wood, sounded like the Somme.

SS

i regulaly shoot with a gent who shoots a 410 all the time and he is a very good shot with it like all guns if you are on the target you hit it he has had a left and right on geese this year something i cant manage with a 12b so dont underestimate them

i used to know a bloke (no longer with us unfortunatly) who would regulary shoot ducks and geese with a .410 bolt action before the ban on lead. just goes to show what a cracker of a gun they are
