Marty O Hare 3
Had a look out ferreting today to give the new 50 yrd longnet a try. I've been wanting to give it a dry run to tie the slack in and have a bit play, but whenever I get chance its always raining or windy. Today was'nt the ideal time to try it out with gale force winds, but beggers can be choosers and all that. Decided to set it out with the slack blowing towards the sets, the theory being that the rabbits would run in and take the slack in with them and get tangled up, it seemed to work anyway. It was a bit of a chew with the wind blowing a hooley and blowing leaves and twigs into it, but got the hang of it in the end. I set the nets up on one side of the hedge with a couple of stop nets running through and my partner in crime covered the other side with his 410. We ended up with 6 healthy rabbits, not a great amount but was happy considering the wind and got to try the new 50 yarder. Will have to set the nets out when its calm as I want to tie the slack in and put some colour on the top lines. My little jill, she's coming up 9 yrs old and blind in one eye but can still bolt a few, gets tierd after a couple of hours out tho. Still take her along with the others for a look out. The new net, big thanks to John Hubbery from chilton. Mates Albino Hob Quote Link to post
Brimmer 220
That wind is causing havoc with the kill in that net! Always seems to happen like that! Good on you fellas, still worked for you! Sometimes I pull the net out the back, and stick it into the ground in spots with the flat end of one of the poles, it's usually enough to keep the kill on the right side.
