GILES 2
IT'S NOT THE HARDEST OF JOBS IF YOU HAVE A WELDER AND CAN WELD.YOU CAN BUY A CROSSMEMBER FROM MOST 4X4 SUPPLIERS BETWEEN 60 TO 100 POUNDS.MAKE SURE THAT IT'S ONLY THE CROSSMEMBER AND NOT THE CHASSIE.IF YOU GET SOMEONE TO DO IT FOR YOU YOU SHOULD BE LOOKING AT NO MORE THAN 200 POUNDS. JDFrain 1
£200 notes sounds about right to me, one more thing to check is also to see if any rot has gone the chassis were the crosmember attaches to, if so you can get a new rear crossmember with extensions on which slips over the existing chassis allowing you to weld onto good metal. here a lot of people saying avoid the britpart ones as hard to marry up, go for a bearmach one or similar... Guest proudy
I've bought a LWB Vitara that needed the inner sills welded or replaced for MOT. I wish, the welding should've cost around £700 but I got it done for £400 as a favour. Happy with it now though
Ian292 0
Get the x member with the extensions. Usually take about a day to cut out the old and weld in the new. Regards, Ian.
