good do

went out today with my bitch, and bolted 8 out of a pile of rubble but all of them made it the short distance to the pile of tyres, except 1! grabbed hold of 3 others so they wont last long

as youll know it can be hard for dogs to catch them on the first time they visit a place.after that steps can be taken to block off escape routes, block up nearby holes and dogs learn where rats will run to.

in some places yes,i dont go ratting with ferrets so if it cant be dug out fairly quickly ill use a smoker.the rats in one big tree trunk wouldnt have moved without it.you could have maybe smashed it up but i dont think the keeper would be very happy.then theres the times when rats are in tree roots, old stone walls, under concrete floors etc etc etc.

even if i did use ferrets i wouldnt put them into some places, same as you wouldnt risk a terrier in some earths.

having said that most of my daytime rats are taken by either digging them out or when a farmer is lifting bales about.
