golf courses

Passed a local golf course today and noticed quite a few rabbit holes. Was thinking about emailing them to try and get permission to ferret there but didnt think they would be happy with you digging your ferret out, especially near the putting greens which is where i could see the holes. Was wondering if anyone on here ferrets any or whether ferreting is out the picture in such an area. Also how does it work for times to go as i wouldnt imagine them closing parts of the course while you work.

I was working a backshift yesterday and with the wind blowing a gale i went across the road at 11pm and lamped our golf course back in the house about twelve thirty with four rabbits .And as i went on a crowd of kids came off and about midnight i bumped into a dogwalker ,so just get some insurance and watch your self but there plenty rabbits to be had on golfcourses mate .Without checking the diary thats mid 70's ive had off that one .

I have a golf course, they are picky, have to go out of golfing hours, so can't do it in the middle of winter. Never used a spade - The guy who showed me how to ferret didn't use one, said I just had to be patient and call to the ferrets if they'd not surfaced for a while.

There are so many rabbits, but the warrens are under trees, which means crawling. I tend to only net 3-5 closest holes, that I know I can deal with fast, catching a couple, and out of the rest of the holes, I sadly watch loads of bunnies scamper to safely! (I don't have a freezer, so 6 rabbits is fine for ferrets, dog and I for a week.) I have yet to make a dent in any of the populations in my permission!

gotta add this on golf courses as it baffled me at the time...whilst doing a bit of work in the countryside, i passed a golf course, it was 3 o clock in the afternoon and on one of the greens there was at least 30 rabbits in broad daylight...naturally i thaught id stumbled upon one of the few courses with no rabbit controllers...needless to say i very exitedley drove up to the clubhouse and asked if it were possible to speak with the groundsman, to which i was told that the coarse owner was sitting beside me...as i looked to my side there was a lady sat there looking at me and asked what she could do for me...i explained that i had just driven past and seen all the rabbits and was wondering if she wanted free pest control ...she seemed quite curious and went on to ask me what we did with the rabbits when we caught them...i tastefully told her that they would be humainly dispatched and removed from her greens...the ladys smile quickly dissapeared and proceeded to tell me that they looked to their rabbits as pets and liked them on their greens and basically told me to get out, so mortified was she...just wondering if anyone else has had one of these responses cause it tickled the hell outa me mate who was waiting in the van...

bet the golfers dont see them as pets, especially not when theres holes all over the place, surprised anyone golfs there, must make a right mess of the course.
