Guest davieboy
there is a mink giving a farmer some grief, so i am going to go round and put down some traps to try and catch it, i intend on sticking down about 6 fenn traps and tunnels along the waters edge/embankemnt at the sides and 2 live catch cage traps. my question is will these live traps be of much use and should i site them the same way as the fenn, also if i bait them should i use mackerel or something else???? cheers Quote Link to post

OldTrapCollector 377
Set the Fenn tunnels and cages anywhere you think the mink will run - any inlets, culverts, drains, islands, edges of rough water, under bridges - anywhere he will be channelled into looking for food. Best bait I found was kippers for mink but I would think any fishy bait would do the trick OTC Quote Link to post

Being mustelids, they're naturally nosey and not trap shy. A keeper friend never used owt but rabbit guts, and he caught a lot. I wouldn't be surprised if you caught one using Christmas cake, they're inquisitive b4stards. If you phone Glenn, then you're sure of the very best expert advice. ian.
