17 grain or 20 grain

Recommended Posts

im just interested to see what the majority of .17 hmr owners use. i know that out to longer ranges, the .17 hmr is quite badly affected by wind so does anybody use the 20 grain ammo instead?

From personal experience and knowing what many others use it is almost always 17g. The 20g does not group as well in any conditions as the 17g and not as much choice in 20g either!

I'm a newcomer to this calibre, but from firing about 25 shots each I would say go with 17g every time, the hornady stuff if the best, IMHO of course :whistling::whistling:

Always worth a box to try, but stick with the one box to start with!!
