I have an ex-army net and was wondering how I was going to use it best. This sounds a good way

 

Do they extend / have some fancy Y piece at the tops / how long are they / etc.?

yes they extend to 1.6m yh some fancy little y piece i use them to prop the net up and some nail in the tree im skint i can't afford the decent hide poles but thhese do the same job.

I bought some poles from Wilkinsons at £2.99 each. They come in various solours including dark green.

Looked on a few websites and saw some that look exactly the same but sold as hides pole at £11.99 each!!!

Wilko Extending Clothes Prop £2.99 each. Extend from 1.4m to 2.4m (so about 4ft to over 8ft).

Just been into wilkos again today and they have changed the poles now so they are all dark green and even the inner extendable bit is also dark green - still £2.99. Bargain!

i use the same mate being scots im too tight to buy proper hide poles

you could use electric fence poles but there not very long.. i used them when i forgot my poles

yep wilkinson ones for me also and i cut the ends into points to go into the ground better

also use netting from the army surplus shop

yes I do the same, better now they are green sometimes sun catches on shiny bits. Wife wonders how her props keep getting so muddy haha

i use them adjustable painters roller poles for doing ceilings they work really well.

I found some re-usable camo tape on Ebay, used it yesterday to wrap the silver bits - no shine at all. Best the material sticks to itself as its sort of rubberised stuff, so no adhesive, can reuse it for ever. brill

Wilkinson poles are now marked at £2.99 each but you get 2 for a fiver. I got 2 the other day and banged bottom into a point. I went out onto some beans and went to put up poles and realised I had "pointed" poles with inner not extended and the inner would not extend as it too was smashed, what a berk, swore at myself a few times. Now got 2 more and extended before bashing haha.
