Now dont get me wrong, i read contrymans week in week out. Where the f**k do they get the writers of the storys in the "ferreting and lurcher sections".

 

Apart from Penny Taylor who does know her arse from her elbow.

 

They go on, a great day on new permission!!! we took 17 rabbits from some very big buries, 30 to 40 nets were laid.....

 

If i went on to my permission and told the keep i had a great day, i toook less than 20 rabbits, he would have rid of me, and get the next descent ferreter in waiting to fulfill the space...

 

Its not really that tho what gets to me. Every team i meet out in the field, are pretty ruff and ready guys, always game for most events, and volcabalory is f'ing this and that in every other word.

 

So where the f**k do these writers come from, "we stopped and had ourselves a well earned cup of lovely warm tea"!

 

"my hip flask"

 

"another well earned rabbit for the bag"

 

"it made its get away good"

 

"a tricky warren" "covered in new sprouting neetles, and hedgerow"

 

"it deserved its get away, and made hast of the dogs"

 

What rabbits deserves to get away!!! And i would piss my sides ifi heard hunters (proper hunters anyway) talking like this..

 

All right they cant be f'ing and jeffing, but they can talk like a normal bloke... for gods sake!

 

In the future take note, and you will ee what i mean,, And half the articles about ferreting and lurchers just seem like normal stuff most of us do everytime we go out, yet these fella's seem to making out that it is hard as f**k in what they are doing!!!

I had about a dozen articles printed in the old-style shooting news when I was an 18 year old kid,cant remember how much I was paid,certainly less than £20 an article because I wasnt a "Name" or a regular writer,I havent bought a CMW for months,the magazines lost its sharpness,just page after page of adverts

i still buy it , and moan about it so i must be the fool. i never read shaun frains stuff, he leavs me cold. think they must have got rid of the bezzant chuckle brothers, thank feck.

 

as some one said pennys articles are usualy worth a read, but i dont read all hers, as sometimes i have red them on hear, skycat

 

they should take a leaf out of the ozy and nz hunting mags, they are usualy full of hunting storys and pics from actual hunts

no i agree i've only ever bought it when i,ve seen it by chance. only ever flicked through it nothing has ever grabbed me to read. but in saying that, the reason i've bought the ones i did, was the front cover "but did notice what it said on the front is not what u get inside. so totally agree with you on this. when I said write your own. I men't exactly that. send them our storys and pics this forum would turn that mag into a great read.

Right sorry jbs, good idea but i cant be arsed these days. I used to write for quite a few angling magazines but again, they were taken over by snobs who liked the sound of there own writing!! lol

The last 18 months or so has seen the decline of the quality and truth behind the c/w and the countrymans fairs, loyalties have been broken, and will neither support any shows run by them ,advertise or buy the mags.
