Keeps 403
We spent last weekend down at deep digs, arriving midday on Saturday for a spot of ratting in the rain, weather was terrible but didnt stop us enjoying ourselves. We went to a farm on some of deep digs new permission, dogs started marking in a load of rubble and caught a few rats. The pups marked their fair share of rats which I was very pleased about. It was a really dark day, so pics aren't the best. The dogs had been going daft underneath a pile of corrugated sheet, metal and general rubbish so we started to shift them which took quite a while - the nearer we got to the bottom the more they were going bananas when what should we hear but a hunting horn.. the corrugated sheets - by the time we got to the bottom the dogs had joined in trying to tear them to pieces in their desperation to get to the rats -1.jpg' alt='NewAvatars_mega_shok.gif' alt='80'>-1.jpg'> The hunt came right through the farmyard so we had to stop & keep the dogs under control while we watched - by the time they had gone the rat(s) under the corrugated sheets must have made their escape - lucky old rats We moved on to some chicken sheds which was an interesting experience  the hunt arriving right through the farmyard back to business in the chicken sheds, it was dark and I havent yet mastered the camera, so no action pics there, we were under a bit of pressure here as the farmer was taking great interest in the proceedings By the time we had done the chicken sheds it was getting dark so we called it a day as we were soaking wet, cold and hungry and all retired to the pub for a sociable drink or two We didnt get a huge number of rats, a few adults, some half grown and a couple of nests of younguns, but the ones the dogs accounted for were all very hard won. Next morning we were up bright and early - some brighter than others :alcoholic: to exercise the dogs. The weather unfortunately had warmed up for the weekend and there was no hard frost as there had been earlier in the week so we didnt find much about, but we still had a very enjoyable day out in good company Just to say a big thanks to deep dig - had a brill weekend - thoroughly enjoyed it Quote Link to post
