WOLF X GREYHOUND would be some Lurcher

I used to think before that this would be some serious cross if someone ever managed it some how. I would think that it would be a seriously intelligent hunter with massive stamina and prey drive. Possibly hard to train and a lot of work would have to go in to teaching it not to kill farm animals but i would say it would be a great animal.

What do you think?

It only came into my head because I was watching a programme lastnight about lads crossing husky bitches with a wild male wolf and they would use the hybrids In movies to play the part of wolves as they are easier to to train.

Ah It was just a thought

Ive seen a few Wolf hybrids over here,...one was crossed with a Malamute, and it was well over 185lbs!!!...it was a sight to see, i can tell you...all of them have one thing in common though...they are WILD!...skittish, shy, wild, f****d in the head waste of spaces, created to sell to guys with perms, fake tans, and calf implants!...a total "Honestly, i have a HUGE cock!" mans kind of fashion statement...the Malamute X Wolf that i held on a leash, i felt SOOO bad for...it reminded me of a dog at the vets, KNOWING its gonna get PTS!...it was terrified of everything, wheel spinning on the floor trying to get to a dark corner where it could stick its head into!...i felt bad for it...

A complete waste of time, and a real sad ending for all involved in such a hybrid imo...

A few of the lads with bull lurchers on this site would love them so.

Ya id spose they would always be nervous and shy. maybe a 1/8 wolf so ;)

I've lived with a wolf x. I can assure you she was neither skittish nor shy. But then I can't say what percentage she was, as she came from a native reserve. All we knew was she was a sheppard wolf cross.

I wouldn't go anywhere near a malamute, never mind cross one with a wolf. What a disaster.

Our wolf x was a real challenge to train. She was very dominant and had to have frequent reminders about her spot in the pack that was our family. Once she matured she was one hell of a dog, but in the wrong hands she would have grown into a very dangerous dog. Saying that, she was loyal, smart, physically fit and beautiful ... and a keen hunter. But she hunted for herself, not for us. You could walk that dog for hours and never see her but still know she was around, watching what you were up to, tracking you ... it was creepy sometimes. Great dog for camping with, an excellent guard dog.

But I wouldn't recommend a wolf cross to about 95% of people. They are hard, hard work and have very different requirements to any other dog you may have had in your life. I can't see that any drop of wolf would add anything constructive to a lurcher.
