bhawk 64
In the last few days my partner has seen my old lurcher which was stolen a year a go. he was stolen when travellers came through the village, along with several other dogs, she has seen him just a couple of streets up from were i now live and she stopped the guy to ask for the time so she could start chatting with him, apparently he's a traveller which is staying in darlington for the xmas period only then he'll be moving on in a couple of weeks. my dog is easily recognisable but unfortunately he wasn't microchipped although i know the owner of both parents and also most of the siblings of my lurcher, what im asking is what do people think i should do, either way im getting my dog back but i have reservations about going to the police due to the fact the traveller will either sell the dog on or just move on early (or as in most cases the police will just dismiss it) Basically im asking how people think i should go about getting my dog back? labsnlurchers 39
It's a difficult situation to be in. I think i would probably go round with a load of mates and take the dog back. First try a reasonable approach. Explain the situation, tell him you are willing to prove the dog is the one that was stolen from you, appeal to his better nature, tell him the kids miss the dog and have asked santa to bring it back or something. If that fails then make sure you have some good mates to back you up. Good luck Quote Link to post

jackard 36
i wouldnt go causing trouble on a traveller site it might be the start of your worst nightmare, i wouldnt even involve the police , if i was you i would approach the man on the site and just ask him if the dogs for sale , then explian your story about it used to be your dog before it got stole , dont accuse him of stealing it ( he might take offence ) as he might have bought it him self in good faith of some 1 else . if you talk to him right he might just sell you it back and you will have to put it down to experiance and make sure you have better security next time . i feeel as tho this is the only way you have any chace of getting it back mate Quote Link to post
