fresh earth 47
How can his dogs be true working dogs from a working dog breeder when its been said time and time again on here by people who know the bloke well that he DOES NOT WORK HIS DOGS ? I dont debate there capable on rabbits any whippet is , as for names on beddy whippets i doubt that the breeding of the whippet makes a the dog you dont see people asking what beddy is through it do you ? The main diff aswel is that a show whippet will catch rabbits and a show beddy will not work to ground and infact would be in some serious trouble doing what a working beddy does so realisticly if i were buying a beddy x id be more interested in the beddys line! If its a working dog your after look at working parents not a so called working line that was probably working 3 generation back. Quote Link to post
rolysmate 49
The original question who works laguna whippets well the truth is very very few people work TRUE laguna bred whippets though there are many out there with laguna in there ped/history including my own. Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
And try not to pick a mad one that turns out dead small and deranged like mine, game i'll give it that but . Not knocking the breed as there are good uns but ive heard of a few duff ones from the aforementioned kennels along with the good ones. Probably the same argument as handcocks like when someone churns out that many pups there is bound to be a few bad uns  Pretty different levels of operation those two mate, hancock churns out shit loads of dogs each year, i think mb only has a couple of litters or so. Whatever. I have a dog direct from mb, that he picked for me, and it has so far done everything i have asked of it and more. At the end of the day it IS a whippet and so has limits to what it can achieve, but it has impressed me and is one of the best 'hunting' dogs i have seen. Everyone i have met who has a dog from him has been very pleased with it. If there was no ban i would say the dogs would be capable of taking rabbit, hare, fox and small deer (munty). Are folk REALLY sure mikes dogs are not worked ? Quote Link to post

TINY 12 108
Does anybody work this strain of dog, or know anything about the working ability of these dogs. A mate of mine is thinking of getting one to work. rabbit, hare, and the odd fox, heard the dogs from sooty sam lines are really game and will tackle foxes. I'm only going on what i've heard, any help would be appreciated. Duz I had 2 of them will not do for hares alright for rabbits.Cross it with collie greyhound to catch hares. (preban)only do a fox doubled up as 2 small. Quote Link to post
