i like the collie cross but with a bit terrier blood in it (bull, beddy or wheaton). i find that a lot of staight collie xs with age and experiance get too clever for there own good and start doing things like only working 20yrds away from a dyke, wont run down hill, wont chase a rabbit that gets up more than 60yrds away or one thats running strait for cover and at there worsed pick and choose there runs.

the best alrounder is a dog that its owner is happy with and does the job for him.

i seen the bull x thing now lets vote it must be an allrounder ere goes!!!

I haven't replied with a vote, I don't usually get involved in debates, just wanted to say theres good and bad in all crosses, usually caused by the owner, most of us keep different crosses for different reasons, horses for courses, if you want a lurcher to just slip and catch whatever the prey ( legal of course ) then fine, I like my lurcher to be trainable, fairly intelligent to work with ferrets under control off the slip, work to hand signal but my choice would not suit others.

Old fashioned I may be and it reminds me of an old saying, lot of men with lurchers but not many lurcher men, not a dig just the way of the world.

ONLY ONE THING CAN MAKE A DOG INTO A [DOG THAT WILL DO MOST THINGS ]AND ITS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BREED ,[iT IS THE WORK IT GETS ,SO IT GETS THE CHANCE TO SEE IF IT WILL TAKE MOST GAME ]dont wish to seem negative ,but it is a fact.
