mickel 0
Was out with a few lads from our local gun club along with some others from the neighbouring one Around 15 lads in total and about the same number of dogs Done 2 beats, first one nothing stirring Next one, some very rough ground surrounded by whynn bushes About five minutes in the dogs started hunting, next thing bang, up in the top corner That was one,(don't know the gender of that one). Next beat was a bog,i was standing on top of a short bank (there was a lovely fresh well travelled charlie track just beside me)i was feeling confident. About 10 minutes in the dogs started a right good hunt about 60 yrds in front of me this quickly travelled down to my left and then turned to come up along the bank in front of me. I could hear something breaking twigs well in front of the dogs,as i kept a close eye on proceedings i could see the long grass that grew over the heather move,i knew this was it. I couldn't see the fox until he jumped down off the bank, then just as i did i let one go,this one just rolled him, as i struggled to see where he was through the heavy growth i got a glimpse of him and fired again. I quickly jumped down off the bank and ran over to where i hoped he lay only to find nothing. As i looked around furiously the dogs came along and went into a big mass of briars. I soon realised where my charlie was as they proceeded to find him where he lay wounded and start to wool at him. I wanted to retreive him so in i went getting cut to shreds in the process. Brought him out,a fine dog with a good tail with a fine bit of white a the end. Forgot to bring the camera this time. Quote Link to post
