You can collect sperm from live dogs and use it later yes. A golden retriever that died over 20yrs ago recently "sired" another litter!! This is in pedigree dogs though and Im not sure how or who you would contact to go about it, maybe the animal health trust?

would it be possible to save sperm from a dog that could be used in the future ?
most vets do it little bit costly but if the dog is any good it is well worth it

good good , thats very interesting ........ anyone got any idea what it would cost

I've done it here but obviously my costs are different than yours, mine costs about quid a year to store, and the original collection was about 200 quid. I was told back then that it is only viable to a high percentage for about 10 years

i have three pups here produced by sperm that was stored. your first visit they will collect a sample, a week later you go back and they take the next sample for storage total cost € 250, and € 50 per year storage. i know a good few dogs around my way born like this. if you have a dog worth doing then see a vet for advise, i dont want any pms for names and numbers on this subject, years ago when i had the "blind dog" lads laughed and sniggered behind my back when i said i was doing this, who is laughing now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just a quick question timmy, how much is stored at a time? how many bitches could be fertilised with one sample taken from the dog?? my mate has a dog that is worth doing this with for the future
