old dog 210
another cold day boy's not as much frost as last week we had a bit, but scent was spot-on,farmers were saying that there was plenty of furry friends around the place, did'nt say much you know what farmers are like, but they were right this time, the first cover we entered hounds spoke as they hit the gorse you could'nt ask for better and good music to go with it,they hunted up and down the valley only showing once crossing a corner of the field and then turning back into the gorse bank, this went on for 45 minutes,5 furry friends leaving the cover 3 were accounted for while the other 2 going into our next cover to hunt, blowing hounds back to me i could hear some shots going off way up in front, the boy's on the cb's saying that 5 hounds were hunting like hell, and there's me blowing for them half a mile away back down the valley stuck on a bramble bank next to a bloody river i could'nt hear a thing, anyway by the time i caught up with them all the hounds were in full cry and going well,as i stood on the bank you could see a furry friend breaking cover on the opposite bank with 4 hounds coursing him out in the field,he was in deep shit he put in a(shane williams)side step just making the cover and going to ground, hounds were unlucky not to catch him in the open never mind it's work for the terriers. All in all we had a good day, hunting from start to finish with some real long hunts and good viewing 9 furry friends were accounted for.here's a few pic's. old dog 210
thank's for the comments boy's i'm glad you like reading my posts, now the hounds are getting fitter, we're having some real good hunts and because i cover such a big area in one day it allows the hounds to get away from the boy's,we still hunt on a control basis we have got to continue this way otherwise i would not have the country to hunt over,i've been hunting the same country now for 20 years i built up alot of trust and made alot of friends with the farmers,so i can mix contol and sport and get away with it without upsetting any body.Yes daveC there's 3, 1st season welsh bitches running with me and i'm over the moon with them got some plans for them it means a change of blood in the kennels, anyway spindolero how are the s pembs going down there with those big old english hounds you have to let us know mate.
