paddy.t 5
better than spending money on a gimmick . Luke. but you have a telescopic on your rifle in your signature, rather than open sights, is that not a gimmick every tool has its job, weathers its a £100 sight, or a £5 tick puller Well made point Quote Link to post

Kay 3,709
Its like banging your head up against a brick wall , whats the point in at least 3 people posting the safe & correct way of ridding ticks from any animal & HUMAN People are still advising all the wrong ways , here was a chap posted on here some time last week who suffered as a result of NOT REMOVING a tick properly if you get one of the tick bourne diseases it can put you in a wheelchair for the rest of your life Now i dont really give a toss what you do personally but if it prevents one single person from contracting any kind of tick bourne diease then its worth posting AGAIN & AGAIN & AGAIN As Hannah pointed out frontlining will help prevent any futher ticks & i would use that for a bad infestation , but for the odd one use a tick picker please http://www.bada-uk.org/ READ IT & IF YOU CANT READ GET SOME fu cker TO READ IT FOR YOU Quote Link to post

para1 11
Well the next time my ferret or my dog scratches a tick off I will give it a jolly good telling off. If i get one on me it won't matter how i get it off it's the bite that causes the damage(or am I wrong again?) 40 years of pulling them off must be bad news, How long have these tick pullers been going then Kay? We have all just yanked them off covered them in vaserline etc but to see the heartbreaking state something as tiny as a tick can cause is truly eye opening The more people are aware of the diseases they carry the more chance you get of getting the treatment for any of the diesases you may have contracted , of course preventions better than cure & the site does tell you about how to minimise the risk of ticks attaching themselves on you Quote Link to post

Guest ferret feller
simple..... spray bottle of frontline... cost....15 quid give of take.... spray once every 3 months per ferret i get mine in a good firm hold... (scruff) then a big squirt on the back of the neck ferret usually goes mad and i rub it in and drop it back in the court.... do each ferret.... if mine get them i just pull them off... as too scuzzy that said plyers.... also who has noticed the ticks are always on the back of the head? and ears? and usually in a place they cant get there teeth into... shows they do bite them off... unless the ticks are intelegent... ulverston moocher 60
I dont see how pulling them out with that aid is any different than getting them in your fingers (I use tweesers)and twisting them out while pulling at same time always works for me and I apply olive oil to the tick before removing. Just how I do it and never had a problem but I make sure they dont get any where near me once removed. Quote Link to post
The one 8,489
Just found a tick on my jill and i don't have one of those fansy little tick removers. That was the first line of the first post Point being... The point being you didn't have a remover and asked how to get a tick off as soon as possible not the next day or the day after Quote Link to post
