Need a good .22 Semi Auto.

Recommended Posts

You simply have to accept there are NO good ones. A Semi is always going to cause problems...they do in shotguns as well!

The 10-22 is arguably as good as any, as long as you find the right ammo and maintain/clean the gun well!

The CZ 511 is meant to be better, but not many about...and it is a f*****g ugly brute!!

I have 5 10/22s and not one of them jams. I've been shooting them for years. You are one of the only people I've ever heard having trouble.

The Thompson Center Classic is a good looking accurate 22 auto as is the Browning Auto. The CZ/Brno 511 is a matter of taste but it has a good trigger and it is accurate.

If you want to go back a few years the Remington 241 is a pretty good old auto loader. The Nylon 66 should be in everybody's armory.

Right now I'm looking at a Stevens 87 that I can break clays with at 80 yards all day off hand. It stutters occasionally but it only cost $70.

Pick your auto and then find the ammo it really likes. Then buy a case of it.

It says CZ511. mfg date on barrel is 97. Imported by CZ-USA. The trigger is much better than the stock 1022s . It will shoot sub MOA with several different brands of ammo. Federal match gives .25" groups at 50 yds. The Thompson Center has the best trigger I ever found on any auto -rimfire or centerfire.

You are never going to get a trigger on an auto like a bolt action, but some of the US customizers get pretty close with the 1022 customs.

The CZ is stiff and a little crunchy but not so bad you can't shoot it well. I've not measured mine but I'd guess it's not over 4#. My BRNO Model 1 has has an excellent trigger but my favorite of the Czech rifles is the 456. It seems to be a BRNO Model 4 with a sporter contour barrel. I've heard a lot of stories about it but it seems to just be a marking angle to use left over #4's.
