jazz_11 5
i no many would disagree with me but i dont think there is much to do with blood lines.then again. some ferrets will get straight down there and work there socks off and others wont. thats my opinion though.. On this occasion I entirely agree with you. only on this occasion is it lol... Quote Link to post
Kay 3,709
some excell at what they were bred for & some dont, i do think other factors come into it , isnt everyones idea of a perfect working ferret different though, some like ferrets who just go down & drive every occupant into the nets & some like ferrets who kill So whats perfect in ones eyes isnt neccessarly the same in the eyes of another person Quote Link to post
The one 8,494
Surely if you kept a bloodline for any time with out a outcross you could end up with small weedy ferrets ?? And if you do outcross you cant be keeping a bloodline ??? Quote Link to post

Wel i always understood that you added a different line at some point to add vigour , so i suppose in thery your not keeping the same line , so i agree with your point there Quote Link to post

stealthy1 3,964
Can anybody physically prove that a bloodline is better than an average common all garden non bloodline spacker ferret, because in theory they sound ace things to own, I've know countless people who say they have them, but when I go out ferreting with them, their super dooper ferrets don't perform any better than my disregarded animal market fezzers. Brimmer 220
What I understand of keeping a BLOODLINE is to keep breeding from animals you have bred, to keep breeding the same line without any crossing out is LINE breeding as i know it. I'm not keen on line breeding, Just look at Deliverance! If you have kept a bloodline going (allthough only half of it each breeding) you are still keeping it going. Quote Link to post

The one's that won't kill won't drive EVERY occupant out into the nets, some won't budge for love nor money, maybee leaving several rabbits down a warren. Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
Deliverance Can you imagine a cage full of hill billy ferrets, every time you enterd them they would be looking for pigs to todger. Quote Link to post
Brimmer 220
In fact one of my albino hobs looks a bit of a banjo player, one of his teeth on the bottom jaw stick out like an undershod terrier! I'll try and get a piccy of him when i feed them tonight, he looks real comical! Quote Link to post

Here's a piccie of Billy bob the fang, he's not line bred, but his looks make you think he is! Don't know how he ended up that way, maybee his mother was rough with him, or he took a tumble as a young un, but one thing for sure, he give's the rabbits hell. Looks mean f##k all when it comes to working, and this little feller does not struggle! Edited December 13, 2008 by Brimmer Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
But is he any good with a banjo, gives him that mass murderer look. Quote Link to post
hubbs 178
I lost an extremly good bloodline last year beacause some little d$£k thought it was funny to let an illegal firework over my garden prick.. I travelled 60 miles to get three and bred myself and with an excellent comeback i would say it is the way forward . the bloke i bought off was very particular and only kept true workers and dissposed of others and the bloodline was at least 20 years plus . one of mine even pulled rabbits out the hole and hopped them to me fecking amazing i wish i had it stuffed... Brimmer 220
Stealthy, he'll play anything you want, as long it's a banjo! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=RyKvD-4IxOY I suppose line breeding has it's plus points with humans! Quote Link to post
