Take the pup to the Vet-

Starve it for 24 hours then feed small amount of plain food eg boiled rice and chicken, just a cupful to start 3 times a day. then gradually introduce the dog buscuits. So on day 2 feed 1 small cup of rice and chicken and 1/4 small cup of buscuits on each feed. Day 3 feed 3/4 cup of rice and chicken and 1/2 cup of buscuits and so on. Also try a probiotic drink like yakult after the starvation period.

Not sure I would feel comfortable about starving an 11 week old puppy for 24 hours. I would starve for 12 hours, then offer small dish of white boiled in its own water starchy rice and chicken breast (no skin or fatty bits). I would then feed the puppy little and often (ie three small meals a day of same thing). Is the dog off its food at all? I would lose the biscuits too.

Has the dog been on any antibiotics? Is his gut flora/fauna out of balance? If so, yakult is a good one.

If this goes on, I would go to the vet as it could be enteritis and need treatment.

Go to chemist and ask for kaolin mixture, put 10mls into a couple of table spoons of natural yoghurt, give this every 3hrs apart from that starve off for 24 hrs.The kaolin and yoghurt will reline the gut and then feed little cooked chicken and rice every 4hrs or so carry on with kaolin and yoghurt until pup gets solid.

The puppy biscuits are probably swelling in dogs stomach hence the bloat. This what i have mentioned is what i have put many pups back on their feet,by the way do not give milk some dogs are lactose intolerent.Good luck mate!

Good advice there!...Best way to reintroduce bacteria to a scoured pup imo.

Some good advice. Don't starve a pup for any 24 hours. Only an adult dog should be fasted.

Some lightly cooked chicken in a broth is a good idea, with a little of the biscuits so as not to be a major change for the first day. Decrease the amount of biscuits and replace with chicken over about 2/3 days.

This is what I would do.

Its more than likely the bad quality food thats giving him the runs. After you've done the switch to chicken, get him onto a diet of raw meat, grated carrots, cooked potato, and the odd apple. This will ensure a healthy pup. Get rid of the biscuits altogether, unless you want to feed a good food like James Welbeloved, Timberwolf Organic, Burns, etc...

Good luck!

If it's a new pup then the change of diet from the breeder is often enough to cause scouring. If it's bad get it to the vet if settling then plain diet, rice etc as above, then introduce a good quality puppy food. You can gradualy add to this ie raw/cooked meat & Veg etc once the pups settled.

Glad he's settling Rory. One more thing tho: make sure you soak those puppy biscuits at least a good 20-30 mins in hot water before you feed them (water will have cooled enough after that length of time). Mash them up and make sure they're good and mushy. When you see how much that crap swells you realise how hard it is for a pup's body to cope with it and break it all down.

Sounds like a touch of Colitus.

Has the pup been passing little spots of blood or like a clear mucous substance at the end of a motion?

My Beddy/Whippet pup had it for a while when I first got him.
