One stole a horse off a lad in my area so he drove down to the caravan site and leveled 8 caravans wight his JCB. But I have to say you get some honest tinkers. I used to box with them years ago . there good lads to box. There was an excellent programme on RTE 1 about their culture and tradition last monday . About them fighting bare knuckle and their weddings. Its Interesting how they only marry other travellers mostly very young when they are around 18 and often their first cousins. Its very interesting and a lot of them are very religous. In Ireland they claim to be the original inhabitants of the country and decendants of kings and their line is pure because of not marrying outside their comunity. They do look physically different to the native settled Irish and this is because of their small genepool. Very interesting proud people in general with great traditions and I always said I would love to hear their stories and maybe doccument them some time. If any one is wanting a insight into the way of the travelling life then i would highly recommend these books. written by "Jess Smith" Jess's journey tear for a tinker tales from the tent also written by "betsy whyte" yellow on the broom red rowans wild honey. these are fab reads and very infomative into the way of their culture. were do we go from here Link to post
