HarryL 0
Hello Just wondering if anyone could recommend some good books for beginners. I am fascinated by this very natural and back to basics way of hunting. Although it would be immpossible for me to even think of owning a raptor at present due to working abroad. I would like to read into this subject a little more, and maybe in the future look at getting into it. Thanks in advance for any advice. Regards Harry Quote Link to post

trappa 518
Agree with sean. A+P is a great beginners book, arguably the best. Quote Link to post
Rentomski 0
Agree with sean. A+P is a great beginners book, arguably the best. Yes indeed an excellent book. Also worth a look: Understanding the Bird of Prey by Nick Fox. Not a beginners book, but covers all aspects of falconry and captive birds of prey in considerable technical detail. Falconry and Hawking by Phillip Glasier. Probably the classic British book on the subject. Training birds of Prey by Jemima Parry-Jones. I don't agree with everything she advocates, but it is a well written and informative book. Edited December 11, 2008 by Rentomski Quote Link to post

zfoxy 0
Im in the same boat at the minute. I found whats best to do when you get back from abroad, if your back soon, is go down to your local library and request all books they have in the county. It will cost you 80p to reserve them but is a damn lot cheaper then what they are to buy.You will find Emma Fords book is usually one of them. But make sure you take them back before you go back abroad or it might be cheaper buying them!!!! Quote Link to post
