Garypco 2 Posted December 10, 2008 Report Share Posted December 10, 2008 Had a couple of dogs killed before now broken legs had to be pts etc.... cramps old dog had if i remember 150 odd stitches from a tumble with some antlers he had another 120 odd inside his back leg from a tin sheet!!! another fifteen and a cracked skull inbetween his eyes after running into an rsj!!! and many various we used to call him frankenstein lol... those where the days eh jase lol... worst ive had so far this year is stitches to my bitches head after a kennel fight..... i came home and my cousin had brought her in... i should have taken a before pic really as the open wound was about 6" long in an l shaped rip with about 2" of skull showing after stapling i gave her antibiotics and flushed through twice daily with a mastitis tube she lay on the chair in the front roon and hardly moved for a fornight only to go eat and do her buisiness... healed perfectly tho... ive seen a lot of cuts on a dog the fleshy areas arent too bad but this one was just solid pain for about ten days her head swoll like a ballon....her eyes closed the lot..poor sod eh!!! Very handy when the dogs a on something! MRD. Don't you check the land in the day time before you lamp at night? Quote Link to post

stevemac 434 Posted December 11, 2008 Report Share Posted December 11, 2008 Staghound dog I had drove a stick through his chest luckly it glanced of his ribs and went right along his side and punched out through the skin at the end of his ribs. he servived ok cost a heap at the vets. The stagbitch I have now has been ripped from the corner of her mouth right up to the top of her head cleaned it up myself healed fine didnt cost anything at the vets. stevemac Quote Link to post
artful212 394 Posted December 11, 2008 Report Share Posted December 11, 2008 had bitch killed by train 2 others break legs mother and daughter fs had broken toes and various cuts on all my dogs and recently my pup run through barb wire fence cut 2 ribbons then on the same day he jumped a fence and got caught by the d**k i kid u not stupid dog fs i yelled just as much as him he ok now perks of the job eh Quote Link to post

victor 10 Posted December 11, 2008 Report Share Posted December 11, 2008 wow. this is one sad topic. my cooper (whipxgrey) has had his chest riped open by a barbed wire fence and did the muscel in there aswell $1500, then not too long ago he was chasing a cat at home and went around the cornor and hit a stick in his frount left leg, $500. he is fine now but deffantly worth keeping him. BTW, ive got pet insurance costing me only $25 a mounth but better to be safe than sorry. Quote Link to post
undisputed 1,664 Posted December 11, 2008 Report Share Posted December 11, 2008 Apart from death by a train and another by the bingo bus.....the worst injuries I've seen a dog survive have been my wee black collie x that took her leg off at the shoulder after hitting a small iron pipe sticking out of the ground....The sire of my present pup cleaved open his chest after hitting a tree stump...you could actually see his internal organs inside. Was ok though. Same dog died chasing a cat in the garden, she broke her back! she was an old beddie cross who didnt know when to through in the towell. Seen a deerhound cross break its neck runninig deer in long grass. Quote Link to post

Then a couple run ins with barbed wire. mine are just missing toes, ends of tails, teeth, etc Kye told me a mates dog had all 4 feet cut off on a harrow Quote Link to post
