Guest mickyrichardson
My opinion is they are a fast cross make good lamping dogs not enough STAMINA for hair coarsing Quote Link to post
whin 463
had one good little dog but realy no were as good as a purpose bred lurcher , to me part of a breding programe if i was to run them need four to my two to have them [bANNED TEXT] , so two good lurchers could carry the workload of four grews all winter ,but alrite dogs but after four or thre hard seasons in all weather they suffer in my eyes , but i like them Quote Link to post
bri1970 22
a lot of it depends on the breeding.a mate of mine had one from george kelly that could graft.killed plenty hares with it. Quote Link to post
MRD 3
My opinion is they are a fast cross make good lamping dogs not enough STAMINA for hair coarsing You should meet my Whippet x Greyhound he makes day and night hare's look silly with easily enough stamina. MRD Quote Link to post

stormrider8 59
I had one bred from a Carl Williams whippet x daughter of ballireagan bob. if he was alive and in his prime i would not have a problem matchin him with any dog! Rabbits day time hare or even roe! He would make alot look average.. hes the fawn dog Quote Link to post

Obviously Pre Ban, and he's a genuine first cross. He's not stupid fast but still fast and when he's up there he stays until. Very please pleased with him as I did'nt buy him for the big one's. Some's time I don't think it matters what there breeding is just if there fit enough and have the heart. MRD. Quote Link to post

MRD. well i've seen a few over the years and i think they make excellent lamping dogs nice turn of speed but i do feel the stamina is at fault with them but like i stress in all my post's that is just my opinion and no offence directed to anyone who run's these dogs ATB MICKY Quote Link to post

I know were your comming from with the stamina that's why they cross them with others for the the bigger eared stuff ie Saluki but as said before if the dogs got the heart to stay and it's fit if will do the job, very much like when you see dogs on the smaller size (Whippet x Bed etc)without any bull and they pull small species of the Deer over you would'nt believe it but it's a eye opener when you see it. Also I think it's the parents aswell with a Whippet X Greyhound ie what there used to running like sprints or stamina. The Sire to my dog was a dog called Miniture Hero and run 700 + at Walthamstow and his Dam was a Lamping bitch so I would think that would put him in good sted for the stamina. MRD. stormrider8 59
At the time i owened mine i worked on a farm and took him with me. I used to put him in a box at the back of quad ,and when off the road would run with the collie. He was as fit as and stamina never crossed my mind! Hes would catch day time hares for fun, no three minute runs though! as it was all over in 30 seconds!!! Quote Link to post
